What Is a Name Server?

When you have acquired a domain name and webhosting on which to run your website a simple setup needs to be done to indicate which web hosting company is hosting your website, that’s when Name Servers come in. Every website is identified by an IP Address; Name Servers convert the domain name of the website you are trying to access into an IP Address so your web browser can display it.

What is an URL?

An URL (Uniform Resource Locator) is a string of character representing your website displayed in your web browser. Each page on the website will have a different URL representing it while still containing your domain name.

What is email redirection/forwarding?

Email forwarding is the act of re-sending email messages delivered to a specific email address to another or several other email addresses. When there is an email received in your email account that is forwarded the mail servers redirect the message to an email address previously specified.

What is uploading?

Upload is the amount of data that is transferred between your web hosting account to your visitors and service users (ex: e-mail). With your hosting plan, you receive a set amount of data transfer per month. However Aztus now offers unlimited transfer on all our plans.

What is Domain Transfer Lock or Registrar-Lock?

A Domain Transfer Lock or Registrar-Lock is a lock put in place to prevent the unwarranted transfer of your domain to a different registrar. Generally you can remove Domain Transfer Lock by:

  • logging into your account with your current domain registrar
  • Selecting the domain you want to modify
  • Making sure Domain Transfer Lock is OFF
  • Saving changes

What is WHOIS?

A WHOIS lookup can give anyone access to contact information of the owner, administrator and technical contact for your domain:

What is a DNS?

DNS (domain name server) converts an domain name (ex : www.aztus.com) into the numeric IP address (72.10.147.5) for the server park on which your website and your emails are hosted. You need information to fill-out the DNS records whenever you register a domain name. When you register a domain name with Aztus that points to a web hosting account associated with your Aztus account, we will fill this information for you. If the site is hosted in a elsewhere or associated with a different Aztus customer accounts, you will need to provide this information during the ordering process.

Why would I need to change my DNS?

With a new website or e-mail account from Aztus for a domain name registered with another provider we will ask you to change the associated DNS information. This will enable your domain name to point to your new web site and e-mail accounts.

What is a domain name transfer?

If you have an existing domain name and registered it with a registrar you can transfer it to another one.

Even if you have already registered your domain name with another registrar you can transfer it to Aztus, simply select Already own a domain name? below the search button on the domain page and verify its transferability. When you order a new registration term and we will take care of transferring the domain for you.
